Riverbed Announces New Aternity Division to Capitalize on Tremendous Growth and Opportunity in Digital Experience Management
We announced some exciting news last week that we believe will enable Riverbed and our partners to more fully capitalize on the tremendous opportunity in the Digital Experience Management and Digital Networking markets.
First, let me provide some context. Riverbed has two significant and unique market opportunities:
- Our high-growth Digital Experience Management software business that includes End User Experience Monitoring (EUEM) and Application Performance Management (APM) solutions, and
- Our Digital Networking business with enterprise-grade SD-WAN, application acceleration for SaaS and Cloud workloads, and Mobile devices and Network Performance Management (NPM) solutions.
While there are some synergies between these two businesses, they each have unique buyers, competitors and business models, and require dedicated focus, deep expertise and distinct go-to-market efforts.
With this in mind, Riverbed is creating a new division for our EUEM and APM software offerings called Aternity to drive more focus and innovation on this portfolio. The Aternity division will be led by Mike Sargent, and include dedicated engineering, product management, sales and customer success resources. Our DEM business is experiencing strong momentum with nearly 100 percent SaaS and subscription bookings growth in 2018, and some of the largest banks in the world deploying Riverbed APM/EUEM solutions across their organizations. This new structure will enable us to continue to grow and own the DEM market.
There is also a massive opportunity for our Digital Networking business, and Riverbed will build on our powerful franchise business with the most complete SD-WAN portfolio, strengthened through our recent Versa Networks partnership; leading NPM solutions, with product bookings growth of 30%+ for our key NPM solutions in Q2 2019; and exciting app acceleration solutions for new consumption models such as cloud, mobile and SaaS, including SaaS Accelerator, which had nearly $5 million in subscription bookings in the first month since we launched the product. The Digital Networking Business, will continue to be led by Dante Malagrino, and will also include dedicated engineering, product management, sales and customer success resources.
Meanwhile, our U.S. Public Sector sales org will continue to support both Riverbed Digital Networking and Aternity solutions, building on its record of success, long-term relationships with government agencies, and a close-knit partner community.
Additionally, in order to further scale our business globally and invest more into the business and our technology, we’re moving to a partner-resourced model in about 15 countries. We will leverage our incredible partner ecosystem to run point in these markets. Working collaboratively, we anticipate accelerating expansion while we provide the great customer support our customers expect from Riverbed.
If you are a partner that operates in a country where we are moving to a partner-resourced model, we will reach out to you regarding the new operating model by the end of July. If you have questions that require immediate attention, please send an email to [email protected].
These changes provide the structure that will enable Riverbed and our partners to fully capitalize on these two significant market opportunities. Thank you for your support as we continue to drive greater focus and agility in order to increase our mutual long-term growth and profitability.
